We are so lucky to have a good sized plot of land round the back of our house, we have used some of it to house our ducks on and the rest is for veggies. We have over the last few years grown some vegetables but not very successfully, our carrots and parsnips forked, our runner beans did not grow at all but the very few veggies that we did get tasted great.
Now we have the ducks I would like to grow more vegetables to feed them, the rabbits but also ourselves. We all love our fresh greens and berries but they cost so much from the local shops and don't last that long. We do our best to buy from our local market but it is not always possible to get their if we are working. What can be better than walking around the allotment picking your own home grown vegetables and eating them for dinner that evening and giving the leftovers to the ducks and rabbits!
I am planning on giving the allotment a big refresh for 2014 and starting afresh, so all ideas and tips are welcome. I have draw up a rough plan of layout and will share with you shortly.
